The Lakes

The Lake District, also known as The Lakes or Lakeland, is a mountainous area in North West England. It is famous for its lakes and fells and was the location of the world's first rock-climbing pioneers. It is also closely associated with many famous authors including Wordsworth, Coleridge and Ruskin. We normally carry a good stock of antiquarian and collectible books on the English Lake District and the histories of Westmorland, Cumberland and Furness. Many of our other specialisms also have strong associations with the area.
