Richard Watson—The son of the Anglican clergyman 'Rt Rev Richard Watson' who was born in Heversham and educated at Heversham Grammar School and served as the Bishop of Llandaff from 1782 to 1816. He lso wrote some notable political pamphlets and George Romney (1734 to 1802)—An English portrait painter born at Beckside in Dalton-in-Furness, and one of the most fashionable artist of his day
